Thank you!

First Sunday Breakfast recently concluded its third successful year. It is offered during the program year (October-May) and does more than fill stomachs. It also fosters fellowship and builds community.

This past season, the volunteer crew served a total of 581 breakfasts.

On average, 73 attendees gathered each month, with a bustling high of 101.

Beyond the delicious food and warm company, the breakfasts have also contributed donations for Saint Philip’s. This year, the initiative brought in $3,605.00; after expenses (which included nine new vinyl fitted tablecloths and a replacement toaster, a net total of $1,497.37 was raised.

First Sunday Breakfast is possible only because of the dedicated efforts of its incredible volunteers. A special THANK YOU to the many hands that make this monthly event a success:

On Saturdays, the shopping and prep team went to work: Jeremy Furrer, Roger and Jeannine Rainbolt, Richard and Renee Cliff. (Kudos to Richard who seemed to always get stuck chopping onions!)

On Sunday mornings, another crew cooked, served, and cleaned. Thank you to Jeremy Furrer, Nani Chang, Emily Swartz (dish washer par excellence!), Betty and Leonard Guarraia, Herb (pancake king) and Sylvia Burton (avocado toast hostess), Bill and Yvonne Kuhlman, Roger and Jeannine Rainbolt.

The delicious baked goods that often graced the breakfast table were lovingly provided by Arlene Jyawook.

And when extra hands were needed, Jim, Laura, Daniel, and Jessie Fox generously stepped in to help.

Don Hommen, Yvonne’s brother, often added to the ambiance by offering his piano stylings. They provided a wonderful soundtrack to our community gathering.

Thank you to all who came and served!

First Sunday Breakfasts will resume in October of 2025 after the summer break.
