Meet God at the Movies

Saint Philip’s movie discussion group will discuss the movie Les Misérables, the 2012 film starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe & Anne Hathaway, at its next gathering at 6:30pm on Tuesday, October 21, via Zoom.

*This group has changed its standing meeting date from third Mondays to third Tuesdays.

As per the internet, “In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who, for decades, has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after breaking parole, agrees to care for a factory worker’s daughter. The decision changes their lives forever.”

Saint Philip’s movie discussion group gathers every month via Zoom to explore a film and plumb it for theological content in the areas of creation (what is the world of the story like); what is broken/where is sin; is there a moment of turnaround, repentance; and where is redemption or the reign of God visible.

All are welcome to join the discussions—only once, sporadically, or on a regular basis—but registration is required. You can do that by emailing Paula Datsko at pauladatsko@gmail.com.

The film is available to rent on YoutubeTV, AppleTV, Amazon, and Fandango.
