Meditative listening group
Join The Rev’d Margaret Babcock 6:00pm-7:30pm this coming Wednesday, July 30 for the last session in the six week series. The group will finish diving deeply into Richard Rohr’s new book, The Tears of Things.
Participants will meet in the Murphey Gallery.
What is a meditative listening group?
It’s an opportunity to experience and respond to a book without reading in advance. No homework required!
Participants will simply gather and listen to a reader, much like monks or nuns in a monastery listen to portions of books read to them during silent meals.
But in this group, there will be time to respond if moved to do so. Participants can share how the reading resonates with their lives. The goal is not only to learn new information, but to create a supportive community.
The Tears of Things is the perfect book for our time as it grapples with the message of the prophets and how they met the challenges of a chaotic age.
Rohr shows how these complicated men grew in their relationship with God even as they laid bare the destructive trajectory of their nation.
