“Lenten gift of time”

This is the first in a four-part series focused on the many different Lenten practices at Saint Philip’s. Over the next few weeks parishioners will share specific prayer practices and disciplines they have adopted to observe the season.

I’m not sure that giving up chocolate would help my journey to be more like Jesus.

But one thing that could help: keeping a prayerful silence during the preludes and postludes, and giving up my inner distractions.

Imagine this: I’m there. I have no excuse about not having the time. There is no physical barrier to me being silent.

A virtuoso organist with a heart for music ministry and commitment to our worship has curated from hundreds of years of repertoire the selection for this point in time. Musical notation is being brought to life under this skill. It’s only for a few minutes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Notice the music. Be ready to receive. Be ready to hear. Be ready to change.

Would anyone else like to join me?
