John Koza
Dear friends in Christ,
Our gospel lesson this morning is John 5: 24-27, the first part of which is: “Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgement, but has passed from death to life.”
What an amazing comfort that is. To understand that we know Jesus and we will have eternal life because of him. That takes away all my worries, and removes all of my fears both in this life and the next! No matter how things may get, I can rest, most comfortably in this promise.
Last week, while volunteering, I had a bite of lunch with one of my co-volunteers. Our conversation wound its way to my Bible study. My co-volunteer is Jewish and she asked me if I “believed that Jesus was a real person.” Wow!
“No,” I said, I don’t “believe” Jesus was a real person, because he was in fact, a real person. It was such an interesting optic for me to even consider. Jesus. The Christ. Our Lord and Savior. He is such a part of my life that I really had to think about it in this new way.
Let us rejoice greatly, in our knowledge of Jesus’ promises. And let us rest comfortably in them.
