Fr Robert Hendrickson
Dear Friends in Christ,
There’s something thrilling about standing in front of an amusement park ride that makes your knees wobble and your heart do somersaults. Maybe it’s the towering roller coaster or the wild loop-de-loop.
Choosing to dare that ride, even when fear tries to hold you back, feels a lot like stepping into the Christian life. Both invite us to trust something bigger than our comfort zones.
When you sit strapped into that creaky, soaring ride, you surrender control—just like in faith, where we admit we don’t have all the answers or the steering wheel. The wind whips past, your stomach flips, and yet, there’s a rush of joy and freedom.
Similarly, walking the Christian path can be scary because it asks us to take leaps of faith, face challenges, and trust God’s plan even when it twists unexpectedly.
Plus, just like how friends cheering beside you make the ride easier, the Christian community surrounds us with encouragement and laughter.
Sometimes, it’s okay to scream, hold tight, or throw your hands up in the air. The ride isn’t just about surviving the loops—it’s about embracing the journey with wide eyes and a willing heart.
So next time fear tries to pin you down—whether it’s a roller coaster or life’s ups and downs—remember: daring to step in, trusting the ride, and sharing the adventure makes the whole experience way more fun.
And faith might just be the best seatbelt there is.
Yours in Christ,
—Fr Robert
