Emily Lyons

Emily sings in Saint Philip’s adult choir and in Schola Cantorum. She is also the coordinator of Saint Philip’s Prison Ministry and a member of the Fiber Guild.

Emily was raised a Roman Catholic and, prior to joining Saint Philip’s, hadn’t attended church regularly since childhood—and even identified as an atheist for many years. But participating in the weekly liturgy as a choir member prompted Emily to reexamine her understanding of the meaning of faith. After lots of reflection and many helpful conversations, Emily made the decision to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 2023.

Professionally, Emily teaches media studies as a lecturer in the University of Arizona College of Information Science. She shares a home with her partner Chris and cat Wendy.
