Douglas Hickey
Douglas started writing Daily Bread reflections in spring of 2024. He enjoys grappling with the spooky and irrational aspects of Christian tradition and finds that writing helps him to process the paradoxes of faith and incorporate Christian liturgy into his everyday life.
Raised an evangelical, Douglas discovered an affinity for high-church liturgy and Anglo-Catholic expression in his 30s, which brought him to Saint Philip’s. In private prayer, he prefers Rite I, the King James Version of the Bible, and St Augustine’s Prayer Book.
Douglas lives with his wife Adrienne and their three children Greta, Dashiell, and Rosalind. He has degrees in English literature (University of Arizona) and data science (Northwestern University) and works for the US Army at Ft. Huachuca.
