A sneak peek
The Murphey Gallery Art Committee (MGAC) has several exciting events planned for the fall.
Because of the much-needed, ongoing roof and air conditioner replacements above the gallery, there will be no show in September.
October will feature the multimedia artwork of local artist, Rosa Martinez. Exhibiting with Rosa will be Rafael Angel Diaz and Ruth Moore.
November will showcase the paintings of Patty C. Willis, another talented Tucson artist.
In December, the Sonoran Plein Air Painters will present a show of their studio work. A quick-paint component will give parishioners and guests the opportunity to observe these plein air artists in action around Saint Philip’s campus. Stay tuned for details and reception dates for all these events.
In January 2027, MGAC will roll out something new: a “Deaccession” show. Parishioners will be invited to donate their surplus artwork for resale. All proceeds will go to the church. Specifics to follow but start cleaning out your cabinets and closets!
This past spring, MGAC said goodbye to its much-loved longtime leader, Sue Cross, and welcomed a devoted new chair, Marilyn Beug. Current committee members are parishioners Jan Bacigalupo, Betsy Chuchla, Cathy Harvey, Susan Hayes, Susan Hupper, Brad and Jacqui Johns, Lisa Morton, April Richards, Gigi Rouzer, Kay Stevens, and Rita Ward. New members are always welcome!
Thanks to a generous gift from artist, parishioner, and former committee member Warren Edminster, MGAC has been able to purchase some upgraded equipment and supplies and plans to acquire some moveable art panels for additional display space. Thank you, Warren!
