Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are our highly trained lay caregivers who offer non-emergency, confidential, one-to-one emotional and spiritual support. Be it through grief, loss, depression, sickness, or loneliness, our Stephen Ministers practice a ministry of deep listening through weekly visits.

Since its founding in 1975, Stephen Ministry has trained over 600,000 Stephen Ministers in the US and abroad, representing over 200 Christian denominations. It is by far the largest Christian ecumenical organization in the world. Currently, Saint Philip’s has 13 Stephen Ministers caring for 20+ people. As our ministry of accompaniment grows, we are also training and commissioning new Stephen Ministers.

If you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister, or if you would like to be visited by one, please let us know by filling out our contact page and by emailing one of our Stephen Ministry leaders, Bill Symonds.
