By Fr Alex, Part-time Assistant for Intergenerational Ministries

Several months ago, Saint Philip’s youth kicked off the first-ever Coins of Kindness fundraiser with support from parishioner Elaine Harrison, and staff members Kate Appel and me. Parishioners were invited to take an empty jar, fill it with spare change, and bring it back at the end of the program year in mid-May.

Youth voted on how to distribute the funds:

  • Outreach programs
  • Creation Care projects
  • Repair the church bell
  • support youth-oriented trips like the UK Residency & Pilgrimage or the mission trip to Navajo Nation

Voting took place from mid-to-late May.

Counting continues but to date, coins, checks, and cash from over 100 parishioners total just over $4,500.00!

Everyone is very grateful for the care and response from the Saint Philip’s community! The opportunity to do intergenerational fundraising, and incorporate the vision of our parish youth, brings the entire parish together. A big thank you for all the support that has been shown for this endeavor.

In the near future, a final count will be announced, as well as voting results. Stay tuned for more exciting news on this front!
