An impromptu adventure
Jeffrey Campbell, Saint Philip’s organist, had an impromptu opportunity to accompany the choir of All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Phoenix, on its UK choir tour this past week.
He shares, “It was a great opportunity to connect and help out a parish from the Arizona Diocese with a similar music program. I also had the chance to play some great instruments, foremost being the 2010 Harrison organ at St. Edmundsbury Cathedral, which has the highest organ loft in the UK. A narrow circular staircase to organ heaven!”
One of the tour’s stops was Ely Cathedral, a place Saint Philip’s choir visited during a 2019 residency.
In an exciting bit of timing, Jeffrey caught up with Mtr Natalie at his stop in Swanage. Some may remember her from the summer she spent at Saint Philip’s in 2022. Jeffrey’s son, Christopher Campbell, will begin his internship at Swanage next week, giving him a wonderful opportunity to work with Mtr Natalie before her move to a new post as a Minor Canon and Succentor at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
