An easy way to serve
What if I’m not really a “people” person?
Everyone has a smile—that’s all you need to represent the love of Jesus Christ and serve as a proxy for clergy at Saint Philip’s in the Hills.
What exactly would I do?
– Welcome worshipers as they arrive, handing out bulletins.
– Direct traffic and help people find seating.
– Collect offerings.
– Take attendee counts.
– Release worshipers for Communion.
How often would I serve?
Ushers usually serve one Sunday every six weeks, at either the 7:45am or 10:00am service. Volunteers are requested for principal feasts (e.g., Christmas week, Easter week) and when substitutes are needed.
What does training look like?
We have seasoned usher captains who will show you the proverbial ropes on the Sundays that you serve. No extra time is needed.
Is there an age limit?
Nope, we want our ushers to reflect the entire Saint Philip’s community, from our children to our seniors! It’s fine if you can’t commit to a regular cadence—we’ll add you to our stand-by volunteer list so you can serve as you’re available.
