Dear Friends,
The lessons today are asking us to follow what God wants us to do. This can be a challenge to discern. The question often asked of spiritual directors is; “How do I know what God wants me to do?”
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a neon light that just flashed on and told us which way to go?
One of my classmates in the MBA program, years ago, was offered several jobs when he graduated and he was trying to discern which one to pick by making lists of the attributes of each.
One list was longer than the others but that was not the job he chose. When the professor asked him why, he told us that his wife was not willing to move to Florida, where the job was located. Very often, love is a good place to start discerning God’s will.
“What would be the most loving action for me to take in this situation?” It is sometimes surprising where this question can lead us.
Following the will of God is not always painless or stress free. And sometimes we don’t know until much later if we have chosen the correct path. But we use the best guidance that prayer can offer and keep our faith that God is in charge.
Peace and Love,
—Jeanette
