Stop the bleed

Saint Philip’s Health and Safety Committee will sponsor a Stop the Bleed presentation this month.

Whether the injury is from a knife accident in the kitchen or a fall on cut glass or sharp metal, knowing how to slow or control bleeding until EMS arrives is essential. A person can bleed out in 3-5 minutes and the average urban EMS response time is 7-10 minutes. 40% of trauma deaths are from blood loss.

  • When: 9:00am–10:30am, Saturday, February 28
  • Where: Saint Nicholas Center
  • Cost: Free (No certification issued)
  • Ages: Open to anyone ages 10 and older

Saint Philip’s is committed to long-term safety; later this year, specialized bleeding control kits will be installed alongside existing AEDs. This workshop ensures the congregation knows exactly how to use them.

Registration is limited to 50, and the deadline for registration is Monday, February 23. To sign-up, please be in touch with Molly Ettenger at mollye52@icloud.com.
