Meet God at the Movies

Saint Philip’s movie discussion group will discuss The Answer Man at its next gathering at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 15, via Zoom.

As per the internet, “Twenty years ago, Arlen Faber wrote a book about spirituality that became wildly popular. These days, he’s a curmudgeonly recluse who only enjoys the company of his chiropractor, Elizabeth. As Elizabeth’s warmth starts to melt Arlen’s cold heart, he comes to realize what love really means.”

The film is available to stream on Netflix, Tubi, and YouTube.

Saint Philip’s movie discussion group gathers every month via Zoom to explore a film and plumb it for theological content in the areas of creation (what is the world of the story like); what is broken/where is sin; is there a moment of turnaround, repentance; and where is redemption or the reign of God visible.

All are welcome to join the discussions—only once, sporadically, or on a regular basis—but registration is required. You can do that by contacting Paula Datsko. To avoid spam and scams, we do not list parishioner or affiliate clergy emails on the website.
