Community impact
Saint Philip’s in the Hills has a variety of outreach programs that serve the wider community but the food pantry has a particular impact. It provides vital support every week for neighbors in need.

The pantry is open 9:00am-12:00pm every Tuesday and is available to anyone who needs food. There are no restrictions of any kind.
Nonperishables such as pasta, rice, and canned items are offered, as are meats, toiletries, and pet food. The economic of this work in 2025 was calculated to value $129,678. That includes the 3,848 hours that volunteers donated.
The need for the food pantry is rising rapidly. In 2025, the pantry logged 748 entries which represented an average of 62 clients per month. A notable spike began in the fall of 2025, and 2026 has seen a major jump in demand. From January through April this year, the pantry served 330 clients, raising the monthly average to 83.
The care extends well beyond Tuesdays, though. Clients stop by on other days receive a “manna bag” that contains fruit juice, a granola bar, crackers, vienna sausages, peanut butter, apple sauce, bottled water, utensils, and a napkin.
These bags are also purchased for $4.00 each by parishioners on Sundays. (All proceeds support the pantry.) They can be kept in cars and handed to people at intersections or whenever someone who is hungry approaches.

The food pantry relies entirely on volunteers. Many thanks to parishioners Nancy Atherton, Ruth Campbell, Barbara Clarke, Barbra Druke, Christine Gross, and Bill Hanna for their generous time and hard work.
The food pantry is very grateful for the support community members provide—whether in donations of food items to the First Sunday Drive or through monetary contributions.
