A friend and colleague

By The Rt Rev’d Jennifer A. Reddall, sixth bishop of Arizona

I have counted Bishop John Orina Omangi of the Diocese of Upper Southern Nyanza-Kisii, Kenya a friend and colleague since we met at the Lambeth Conference in 2022. Several people from the Diocese of Arizona visited him in Kisii last summer, and you have been collectively generous in supporting the ministry and mission of the newly established Diocese.

It is my joy to confirm that Bishop John is on his way to Arizona right now, and will be visiting many of our churches and ministries, including our Diocesan Convention this October.

Public events where you can meet Bishop John and learn more about his ministry include his preaching engagements at:

  • St. Peter’s, Litchfield Park at 5:00pm on Saturday, October 12. There will be a taco dinner and discussion and an RSVP is required for this event. You can RSVP here.

  • Saint Barnabas on the Desert, Scottsdale at 7:45am and 10:00am on Sunday, October 13—including an adult forum at 9:00am

  • Saint Philip’s in the Hills, Tucson at 7:45am and 10:00am on Sunday, October 20—followed by an adult forum at 11:30am

Bishop John will also be present at the Installation of The Rev’d Monica Whitaker as Rector of St. Matthew’s, Chandler at 11:00am on Saturday, October 12.

The Diocese of Upper Southern Nyanza-Kisii is doing amazing ministry in planting churches, working for the empowerment of women, and educating young people.

I urge you to learn more from Bishop John and to support their ministry here.
