Get home by dark

In less than one month, Joyful Noise—Saint Philip’s new Saturday afternoon hymn sing and communion service will debut at 3:00pm in the Chapel Garden.

With the promise that everyone can get home by dark, service planners aim to have five congregational hymns selected every week, with a liturgy adapted and approved for this occasion.

Entrance to the Chapel Garden is just west of the church’s Great Doors; you can also enter from the Nativity Chapel. (In case of rain, the service will be held inside.)

Thanks to parishioner and volunteer woodworker, Bill Donges, a newly refinished altar will be completed just in time. Exterior lights have been added to the Chapel Garden, and a campfire will be ready to go if the weather ever gets cooler.

Mtr Mary Trainor has been key in making Fr Robert’s idea a reality, and Fr Allen Breckenridge is Music Coordinator. They are about to “close the deal” with a local pianist who will serve on a regular basis.

Joyful Noise will also participate in outreach-evangelism efforts. That ministry will sponsor singer-songwriter Bobby Jo Valentine in concert at Saint Philip’s on Saturday, November 23. Stay tuned for details.
