Souper Sundays

The Mosaic Community Night Hospitality Team is off to a great start!

There is a generous group of people who consistently make meals for 40-60 people on Wednesday nights. Overheard this past Wednesday:

“My husband thinks it’s hilarious that I cook at Saint Philip’s because I never cook at home!”

“After a long day of work I find peace doing dishes for my church family.”

If you are looking for an opportunity to learn, to lead, to serve, and to eat tasty homemade food, then consider helping prepare the weekly meal for Mosaic. You can try it once to consider if it’s something you like to do.

We would love to expand the ranks of volunteers. In addition to Wednesday afternoon/evenings, there is now the option to volunteer on Sunday afternoons.

On “Souper Sundays,” teams of eight volunteers will be guided through the process of making soup to be frozen in 20-batch servings. This soup will be available for Mosaic when volunteers can’t make their usual shift or for occasional events such as a gathering of the Feeding Ministries team.

The initial Souper Sundays will be October 16, November 20, December 4, and January 15. Participants will gather 12:30pm-3:00pm in the parish kitchen.

At each session one leader will teach volunteers about the kitchen and a second leader will guide participants through preparing the ingredients, cooking the soup, and cleaning up.

Having more people at Saint Philip’s who know the norms of a commercial kitchen will open up other opportunities to impact the wider community.
