Naco Christmas Project

One of Saint Philip’s December traditions is to provide donations to help those in the community beyond the parish’s physical walls. The Naco Christmas Project was one of this year’s beneficiaries.

On Saturday, December 18—thanks to the generosity of Saint Philip’s and Saint Andrew's, Glendale—volunteers from both churches were able to deliver 20 very full bags of toys and food boxes to mothers and children in Naco, Sonora.

Volunteers from Saint Philip’s included Fr Henry Hoffman, Jane Prescott-Smith, and Dcn Leah Sandwell-Weiss; Saint Andrew’s was represented by Fr Martir Vasquez and five parishioners.

In addition to serving the people of Naco, Sonoroa, this trip represents how diverse parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona are finding common ground in pursuit of joint ministries.

Saint Andrew’s has made this December trip for the past six to seven years. Saint Philip’s joined the project to increase the number of families served. Your donations helped volunteers purchase stuffed animals, dolls, soccer balls, art supplies, a variety of toys, as well as pay for food boxes with eggs, milk, bread, meat, and all the ingredients necessary to make tamales. Cleaning supplies were also included.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the trip such a success!
