Vestry update

The Vestry is a group of elected volunteers that serves as the parish’s functional Board of Directors. Vestry members, who serve in three groups for three-year terms, provide leadership and oversight of the mission and ministry of the congregation, and manage the church buildings and property, finances, and personnel. Saint Philip’s Vestry gathers for a hybrid meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. What follows is a summary of the January 19 meeting.

Present: Michael Anderson, Chelsea Bayley, John Bremond, Herb Burton, Barbara Cone, Meghan Hodge, Erika Johnson, Meredith Mullins, Roger Rainbolt, Lee Shaw, Alex Swain, Bonnie Winn, Liz Wood, Mark Woodhams, Fr. Robert Hendrickson, and Mtr Mary Trainor.

Following the opening prayer by Fr Robert, John Bremond welcomed the new Vestry candidates, Class of 2025: Erika Johnson, Meredith Mullins, and Roger Rainbolt. He also thanked outgoing Vestry members, Class of 2022: Chelsea Bayley, Lee Shaw, and Mark Woodhams.

Barbara Cone was appointed Vestry Recording Secretary.

The Minutes of the December 15, 2021 meeting were approved as amended.

Bonnie Winn gave the Stewardship report. To date there are 265 pledging units who have pledged a total of $966,000. 

Fr Robert gave the Rector’s report which discussed plans for the Annual Meeting and outlined the areas to review/consider for Vestry 2022.

The Financial report by Treasurer Herb Burton included Anthea McCarthy’s resignation, the part-time Controller’s report, and the status of the 2019 and 2020 audits.

Mtr Mary ended the meeting with a prayer.
