Cruzando Fronteras

EDITOR’S NOTE: Below is an article about the border ministry known as Cruzando Fronteras, which will be the recipient of this year’s Christmas offering from Saint Philip’s in the Hills. Please see “From the Rector” in this issue for further background.

Reprinted from Bishop Reddall’s E-Pistle of November 19

This is a special time of year when many are preparing for Christmas and remembering the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus and the dangers it introduced.

Remember Joseph and Mary’s journey to bring the King of Kings to a safe area for the Lord to be born. Fleeing certain death and traveling a far distance to foreign lands for security and a safe life for their child and our Lord.

It calls to mind families here on our southern border fleeing in the same way, and for the same reason--to save their children.

"Remain in Mexico" is still in effect here on our Southern Border, and our families here in Nogales, Sonora, are waiting for either the Ninth Circuit Court to rule the illegality of MPP, or for there to be a change in our country’s leadership.

Consequently, the Cruzando Frontera program is asking for help to bring Christmas to the families, especially the children. Below is a list of items (generic) that will bring joy to the children this Christmas. Such gifts also will let them all know, that they are not forgotten.

Cruzando’ s Posada this year will be Saturday, December 19, at La Casa, where many of the families have been with us for almost a year. We have had six children born to us in this time of the pandemic, with another 150-plus children we call family, and who reside on Cruzando’s property.

Donations and gifts may be mailed to the address below. Please note "Posada Gift" in the memo line of your check. Monetary donations can also be made online (please note "Posada Gift" in the memo box at the bottom of the screen).
