Meet God at the Movies
Saint Philip’s movie discussion group will discuss Rental Family at its next gathering at 6:30pm on Tuesday, August 18, via Zoom.
As per the internet, “An American actor in Tokyo struggling to find purpose lands an unusual gig: working for a Japanese ‘rental family’ agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers. He rediscovers purpose, belonging, and the beauty of human connection.”
Saint Philip’s movie discussion group gathers every month via Zoom to explore a film and plumb it for theological content in the areas of creation (what is the world of the story like); what is broken/where is sin; is there a moment of turnaround, repentance; and where is redemption or the reign of God visible.
All are welcome to join the discussions—only once, sporadically, or on a regular basis—but registration is required. You can do that by emailing Paula Datsko at pauladatsko@gmail.com.
The film is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
