Help reduce hunger

On Sunday, April 5, the First Sunday Drive will collect items for Saint Philip’s food pantry. The pantry is open 9:00am-12:00pm on Tuesdays and operates out of the church’s main office area.

The Saint Philip’s food pantry has been experiencing an increase in clientele. Numbers have risen to 20-25 each Tuesday. With the increase in clients and food prices, the food pantry is experiencing a shortfall in its budget for purchasing the necessary items for the food bags they give away and for manna bags.

In addition to the below, cash or credit card donations are always appreciated! To give, please go to https://stphilipstucson.breezechms.com/give/online, click on the drop-down arrow, and select “Give to Food Pantry.”

The food pantry would appreciate donations of the items most needed:

Canned fruit
Spaghetti noodles
Canned pasta sauce
Canned meat—chicken (any size), tuna and spam
Canned spaghettio’s or raviolis
Canned soup, preferably with protein
Peanut butter
Dry milk
Dry beans and rice

We are also always in need of the items we put in the Manna Bags (gallon bags that are given to the homeless and are also for sale in the Little Shop).

Each bag contains the following:

Water (16.9 oz bottle)
Juice box
Fruit
Protein & cereal bars

Donations of any of the above would be very welcome.

Unfortunately, because of increased prices, the Manna Bag price will increase to $4 per bag effective this Sunday. These bags are really appreciated by the homeless population in our area.

This Sunday, April 5, the Little Shop will be closed, but you can purchase them from Kiki at the Blue Umbrella.

Please leave your donations next to the entrance on the church’s east side.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

If you have questions or would like to volunteer as a substitute at the food pantry, please email parishioner Ruth Campbell at sruthie@cox.net.
