A bit about Kat
Kat Manton-Jones is a watercolor and mixed-media artist in the Arizona Sonora Desert. Her artwork is inspired by her curiosity, adventures, and studies. Experimentation is essential in her approach. She frequently plays with new color combinations, textures, or techniques, and, as a result, her awareness and art are continually evolving.
She has completed two Artist Residencies in Guadalupe Mountains National Park (2018) and Arquetopia in Urubamba, Perú (2023). As a recipient of the 2024-2025 Arts Heritage Grant Honoring Janet Tifft, she is creating a body of work that incorporates collage, assemblage, watercolor, and community in experimental art. Her current themes are conservation of ecosystems and habitats, dark skies, citizen science, and resistance art.
Kat is a Saguaro Fellow in the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, Signature member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, and member of PaperWorks, Raices Taller, and Tubac Center for the Arts. She has presented at Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, PaperWorks, and ISEA. She teaches collage and watercolor. Her paintings have won awards in Tucson and Tubac.
