Personal purses
The Saint Philip’s Daughters of the King began an Outreach project in November 2025 called Personal Purses.
Parishioners were invited to donate used and well cared for purses to the Daughters, who filled them with feminine hygiene and self-care products. At no cost, the filled purses were then distributed to women in need within the Tucson community.
To date, Saint Philip’s parishioners have contributed 48 purses.
As the information about this project spread within the community, Church of the Apostles in Oro Valley donated 27 purses, and St. Francis in the Valley in Green Valley contributed 14 purses. They also asked for a tour of Saint Philip’s when they delivered their donation.
During Advent, Joseph’s Pantry at Grace-St. Paul’s Episcopal Church requested more than 40 filled purses to give to women during their Christmas dinner for unhoused women and men.
What we thought would be a one-month project blossomed into an ongoing and growing plan to serve unhoused or marginally safe women.
The Daughters of the King is a national and international religious order of Lay and Clergy women whose work is to pray daily for the people of their parish, to seek and serve Christ in all persons, to support and serve the clergy in the work of the Church, and to respect the dignity of every human being. There are more than 350 women who are Daughters in the Diocese of Arizona.
