Preparing for Easter
For the second year, Saint Philip’s Hands and Feet Holy Week offered a meaningful and sensory-rich experience for our youngest members. Music educator Chelsea Shepherd and Mtr Taylor guided two groups through the stories of Holy Week.
The youngsters journeyed from Palm Sunday’s entry into Jerusalem, symbolized by passing through the gates of chairs, to the cleansing and teaching at the temple, and focused on love in scripture. The experience also included foot washing and a shared Mediterranean snack.
Even Holy Saturday’s quiet anticipation was explored through the visual of sprouting pole beans, helping the little ones grasp the concept of waiting. This hands-on approach introduces theological concepts and fosters family conversations throughout Holy Week.
Thank you to all the volunteers for supporting Christian formation for all ages at Saint Philip’s.
The hands-on work of preparation continues for Holy Saturday Morning Prayer, the Easter Vigil at 8:00pm on Saturday, and the Sunday morning Easter services.
