Every two to three years, the Saint Nicholas Choir and Schola Cantorum travel to the UK to serve as a visiting choir in an English Cathedral.

Saint Philip’s choir has already served in residencies at Worcester (2016), Ely (2019), Wells (2022), and Lincoln Cathedral (2024).

Saint Nicholas choristers who have completed two full years of training (equal to a Light Blue ribbon in the RSCM training scheme) are eligible to travel on residencies. The music department raises funds to cover these choristers’ travel expenses.

The residency is a powerful integrative experience that combines rigorous discipline, high musical standards, traditional Anglican liturgy, and a strong sense of historical continuity. This event is a musical pilgrimage of sorts that offers remarkable formational value for everyone involved. In the course of a residency, the choristers sing eight full choral liturgies in one of the very places where the Episcopal choral tradition developed and still thrives.
