Dear friends,

The Collect for any given Sunday is the one we pray throughout the week in Morning and Evening Prayer. This past Sunday’s Collect was:

Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River
Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him
with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his
Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly
confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy
Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

“Grant that all who are baptized into his name may keep the covenant they have made” stands out to me this week as we prepare for a Baptism at the 9:00am service this Sunday, and as we mark the launch of a season of Christian Formation for those seeking Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation of faith. As a community we make commitments on Baptism days—a resounding “We will!” that rings out in different ways over the coming years of faith practice for a newly baptized person, whatever their age.

If you would like to pray with the reaffirmation of baptismal promises before or after Sunday you can find them on pages 304-305 in the Book of Common Prayer or available here at https://bcponline.org under Holy Baptism.

We all need reminders of the ways the Holy Spirit is with us and guides us. May we pray together to live into all of who we are made to be in the life of Christ.
