Dear Beloved Church Family,

I don’t know about you, but this is the season in our church life that I want to shout from the mountain top—“HE IS RISEN.” The trappings of Easter may be tucked away in the back of Target and reduced for clearance (50% off or more), but I am 100% fired up. HE IS RISEN! We have come out of a period of reflection, thoughtfulness and intention and I just want to kick up my heels! HE IS RISEN! The lightness of the season is reflected all around us—flowers, clothes, our own liturgical colors…HE IS RISEN!!

The Lectionary for today does not disappoint me and my mood. Peter heals a lame man “Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God.” (Acts 3:8-9) HE IS RISEN!!

The Psalm (105:2-3) asks us to join in. “Sing to him, sing praises to him, and speak of all his marvelous works. Glory in his holy Name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.” HE IS RISEN!

Cleopas and his companion meet Jesus on the road to Emmaus and proclaim “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:35) HE IS RISEN!!

I know there is much to be done. We are called to be Christ in the world and the world could use us. But for today, this Wednesday after Easter, when everyone else is putting away the baskets and finishing up the dyed eggs, I am going to dance in the sun, smile until it hurts, bask in the glory of the Resurrection and shout, "HE IS RISEN!  Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!"

Joyfully praising Him,

—Edina
