Dear Friends,

Many of you are familiar with the famous pop/soul song, "Ain't no Mountain High Enough" sung by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. The song was a top single back in 1967 and quickly became a Motown classic. The song is light and romantic, however it has a powerful message of love, commitment, and faith. This is especially true in the chorus as well as in the second verse:

'Cause baby, there ain't no mountain high enough

Ain't no valley low enough,

Ain't no river wide enough

To keep me from getting to you baby

Remember the day I set you free,

I told you, you could always count on me, darling

And from that day on I made a vow

I'll be there when you want me some way, somehow

In today's Daily Office Gospel reading, Jesus lets us into an amazing secret; We have the power to move mountains through our faith. After the disciples fail to cure the epileptic son, they are confused and ask Jesus why they failed. Jesus is emphatic with his answer to their question when he states, "Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."

When we believe in Jesus, and let the Word of God grow within our hearts and spirits nothing will be impossible for us. There is no mountain too high, no valley too low, no river too wide from us growing closer to God. God became incarnate to set us free. Through God's unconditional love and commitment to us, we are freed from fear, suffering, and pain. God made a vow to always be there for us, no matter what type of mountains try to block our spiritual path.

Have faith, my friends, have faith! For if you call out for God's mercy, God will be there for you in some way, somehow.

Best,

Luke
