Dear Friend,

Today we commemorate Julian of Norwich, an Anchoress in the 14th century whose writings remain illuminating and bold to this day. Her reflections on her experience of visions or "showings" are refined theological and mystical treatments of the Passion of Christ and the overwhelming love of God. She is one and the same who wrote "All shall be well, all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well."

As we pray today, let us give thanks for her meditations on divine Love, and the way God can use God's people-anchoress or not, to show the world the presence and love of God.

"If there be anywhere on earth a lover of God who is always kept safe from falling, I know nothing of it, for it was not shown me. But this was shown: that whether in falling or in rising we are always kept in the same precious love."
-Julian of Norwich

In Christ,
