“Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.”

+

Beloved,

Jesus once said to a disciple that God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit and in truth.

God is light. If we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the fellowship we share in the Spirit is with the Father and the Son. (1 John 1:7)

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

God is love. Beloved, everyone that loves is born of God, and knows God. And love is stronger than the grave. We know that we have passed from death to life because we love one another. (1 John 3:14)

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for the peace and repose of this day, when we may turn aside to remember life’s many mercies, to tune our hearts again to praise God’s name.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for the love bestowed upon us in our families and homes, and in all we love and hold dear, and for the kindnesses and care that we receive through friends and strangers alike.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for all who work and suffer for justice to lighten the dark places of the earth.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for the household and family of the Church, for God’s people everywhere, and for the means of grace to follow this day in the steps of charity.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for the beauty and loveliness in the world around us and for hearts given to gratitude.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Beloved, for the strong ties that bind us to the unseen world, for the faithful departed, and for faith that brings hope to the most difficult moments of life.

Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace.

Let us pray.

For lives made holy and shaped by the love with which you love us, O God.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For President Joe Biden, Governor Doug Ducey, the courts and legislatures, and for all whom you have called to positions of authority.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For strength and wisdom to guard, cherish, and protect the lives of those who labor to make possible our common life.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For the forgiveness of ours sins and negligences, for all that we’ve done and left undone, for you Love to quicken our cold hearts.

Lord, hear our prayer.

May the name of our God be praised from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same. (Psalm 113:3)

Peace today~
