Dear Friends in Christ,

I am the person I am today because of the blessings I have received through the patient instruction of many mentors. Perhaps it is the same for you - whether a relative or a teacher or a minister or a colleague, perhaps there is someone who comes to your mind, who made a point to invest their time and care in you. Someone, or several someones, who saw something in you and chose to nurture it. Someone who helped you become more the person God made you to be.

In today's reading from Acts, we read about a bold and eager man named Apollos, who was neither afraid nor ashamed to proclaim Jesus as the Christ, even to a hostile audience. And when Priscilla and her husband Aquila heard his preaching, they saw something in him - a gift of God. They took the time to help him learn and grow, because while his passion and talent were excellent, his knowledge was incomplete.

I believe that such nurturing friendships are themselves a gift from God. How might God be calling you to share your time and care and knowledge with someone else? Where might God be encouraging you to grow, and who might be in your life to aid you on that journey?

In peace,
Mtr Kelli
