Last chance

Every month a different local artist is invited to sell handmade objects in The Little Shop. The items for sale change every week within that month. (Artists donate a percentage of their proceeds to Saint Philip’s).

This Sunday, September 24, will be the last Sunday that Saint Philip’s gift shop offers Kiki Cheney’s items as a new artist will be featured in October. Stop in the store before or after church services.

A bit about Kiki
Kiki’s favorite presents to gift are ones that are practical and beautiful, and sewing combines the two. Even before she knew how to sew, she would visit fabric stores just because she loved to look at the colors and patterns and touch the different textures.

When Kiki eventually signed up for sewing classes, she discovered a whole new world. She says the sewing community is vibrant and its members are incredibly generous with their knowledge and enthusiasm. (But she’s quick to add that no one warned her that “pressing” is just a fancy word for “ironing!”)

An unexpected benefit from sewing is that it requires Kiki to remove distractions and focus on the task at hand. Whenever she wants to rush ahead, she reminds herself of the quote: “How you do anything, is how you do everything.” It inspires her to slow down and remember that beautiful, quality results require patience. Yet one more life lesson!

Artists have been scheduled through March 2024. If you are interested in sharing your creativity please contact Kiki Cheney at kiki.cheney@stphilipstucson.org.
