September's artist

Beginning this month, local artists will sell their handmade objects in The Little Shop. A different artist will be featured every month, and the items for sale will change every week within that month. (Artists will donate a percentage of their proceeds to Saint Philip’s).

Pop in the store each week before or after worship services to see what gifts you find—for yourself or others.

September will feature items sewn by Kiki Cheney.

Double-sided napkins and cozies to keep beverages warm. For example, a properly brewed cup of tea steeps 7 minutes. A cozy on top of the mug while the tea steeps keeps the beverage warm. But it can be used for coffee and cocoa, too!

A bit about Kiki
Kiki’s favorite presents to gift are ones that are practical and beautiful, and sewing combines the two. Even before she knew how to sew, she would visit fabric stores just because she loved to look at the colors and patterns and touch the different textures.

When Kiki eventually signed up for sewing classes, she discovered a whole new world. She says the sewing community is vibrant and its members are incredibly generous with their knowledge and enthusiasm. (But she’s quick to add that no one warned her that “pressing” is just a fancy word for “ironing!”)

An unexpected benefit from sewing is that it requires Kiki to remove distractions and focus on the task at hand. Whenever she wants to rush ahead, she reminds herself of the quote: “How you do anything, is how you do everything.” It inspires her to slow down and remember that beautiful, quality results require patience. Yet one more life lesson!

Artists have been scheduled through February 2024. If you are interested in sharing your creativity please contact Kiki Cheney at kiki.cheney@stphilipstucson.org.
