One more option

Several parishioners have mentioned a Tucson program that converts plastic and glass items into building blocks for construction. So…

now there is a new stack of recycle bins in the common room of the office area waiting to receive your recyclables. These bins accept more items than the regular bin outside the Murphey Gallery (east) and church office—or the large dumpster at the north end of campus.

Parishioner and food pantry volunteer, Ruth Campbell, will check the bins and take any items to the drop-off center before she leaves the office on Tuesdays around 12:30pm.

If you would like additional information about this city program, please stop by the office for a handout.

Heidi Kujawa, left, founder and CEO of ByFusion, and Nathan Kappler, president of Kappcon General Contracting, place 28 blocks into a median in the San Gabriel neighborhood on June 23. The 22-pound blocks are made of plastics considered unrecyclable, such as plastic grocery bags, bubble wrap or products contaminated by food waste.
