Loneliness and grief

Saint Philip’s looks forward to welcoming Dr Mary-Frances O’Connor at 10:30am on Sunday, March 26, in the Murphey Gallery for a hybrid forum entitled, “The Consequence of Loneliness and Grief: Effects on Mind and Body.”

Dr O’Connor is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Arizona and Director of the university’s Grief, Loss, and Social Stress (GLASS) lab. For decades Dr O’Connor has focused her research on physiological correlates of emotion, particularly the wide range of physical and emotional responses we have during bereavement—especially when isolated.

Dr O’Connor is widely recognized for her groundbreaking discoveries about what happens in our brain when we grieve. Her work has provided a new basis for understanding love, loss, and learning.

Her new book, The Grieving Brain: The Surprising Science of How We Learn from Love and Loss, has received international acclaim.

All are encouraged to attend this important discussion.
