This Sunday’s question

The small group discussion topic at 10:30am this Sunday, March 19, will be “The story of the Bible” facilitated by The Rev’d Geoff Glaser, Affiliate Clergy of Saint Philips.

The main question for discussion will be: In the end, when all wrongs are made right, all evil is eradicated, heaven and earth unite, and humanity rules together with God, will it be because humanity finally chooses God’s definition, or because God overwhelms us with so much goodness that we have little choice in the matter? What are some other possible scenarios?

The session is scheduled to last 30 minutes so that people may attend the 11:15am worship service. However, Fr Geoff will remain in La Paz beyond 11:00am so the discussion can continue for those who wish to explore the topic further.

The group discussions will be in-person only as there is a weekly Zoom Bible Study offered at 10:00am on Tuesdays.

These gatherings are intended to be discussions—not debates. The focus will not be to master any particular text but, rather, to engage it and consider how God speaks to us through the Bible narrative.

Fr Geoff moved to Arizona in 2006 from San Francisco where he was the director of a spirituality center at St Agnes church, a Jesuit parish. In addition to being an Affiliate Clergy of Saint Philip’s, Geoff also provides pastoral care and leadership to St Michael’s Church—a mission congregation—in Coolidge, AZ.

Fr Geoff is also an avid and accomplished long-distance swimmer. He is a co-founder of Dolphins of the Desert Swimming Academy and in 2008 launched the Learn to Swim program for inner-city youth at Imago Dei Middle School.
