‘Dark & Luminous Night’

To celebrate the arrival of the Epiphany, Saint Philip’s choir will present atmospheric and comforting music by the young Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo on Sunday, January 7. The offering will include his works based on St John of the Cross’ mystical poetry set for choir and piano quintet. Peteris Vāsks’ instrumental rendition of The Fruits of Silence and a lovely Icelandic hymn by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson will round out a distinctively Nordic theme.

Saint Philip’s in the Hills strives to bring the finest quality choral music to its worship services by incorporating substantial works directly into the liturgy. Every first Sunday of the month (October-May), the choirs present such an offering at the 9:00am and 11:15am services, often with instrumental accompaniment.

We hope you’ll join us this Sunday to experience this wonderful music in a liturgical context.
