‘The Philadelphia Eleven’

In an act of civil disobedience, a group of women and their supporters organized their ordination to become Episcopal priests in 1974. The Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia welcomed them, but change was no small task. The women were harassed, some lost friends, and others were banned from stepping on church property.

This feature-length documentary film introduces the women who succeeded in building a movement that transformed an age-old institution, and challenged the very essence of patriarchy within Christendom. Click here to watch the trailer.

This won’t be your only opportunity to see the film. Saint Philip’s will offer a screening of the movie on Sunday, January 7.
