A new placement

EDITOR’S NOTE: Beloved in the Desert is a ministry that invites young adults between ages 21-29 to volunteer in the nationwide network known as the Episcopal Service Corps. The members intern with local non-profits to end homelessness, hunger, and poverty in Tucson, live together in intentional community, and follow daily offices of prayer.

Hannah Hill and Jeremy Wickboldt, two of the 2022-2023 Beloveds in the Desert corps members, now work at Saint Philip’s as their non-profit placement. Hannah splits her time; 16 hours each week are with the Boys and Girls Club and 16 hours are spent at Saint Philip’s. Jeremy is assigned to Saint Philip’s for the 32-hour week.

You will see them helping out in various places on campus: the Little Shop, church, and with Children, Youth, Family programming. They are also lending a hand to the perpetual care work for the Columbarium by darkening the faded letters on plaques and removing limestone buildup caused by water.

The other two Beloved corps members are David Adah-Ogoh and Marcus Maltby. All four regularly attend the weekly Wednesday evening Mosaic sessions at Saint Philip’s, as well as church on Sundays.

The service year will end in May; interviews for next year’s corps members are being conducted now.
