A new Beloved corps

Saint Philip’s Beloved in the Desert Episcopal Service Corps will welcome four new participants on Friday, July 22. Short biographies and photos of each are below.

David Adah-Ogoh

David Adah-Ogoh(he/him) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (with concentrations in philosophy, classics, comparative literature, and the history of math and science) from St John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the spring of 2022. He grew up in Abuja, Nigeria, where his time at the local Jesuit high school ignited a passion for justice and politics onto him.

He enjoys watching and talking about Broadway shows, growing his bookshelf to include any and everything under the sun, doodling, and thinking about big questions. He hopes to become a sociologist.

David ascribes his conversion to Catholicism to two books: Bruce Shelley’s Church History in Plain Language and the HarperCollins Encyclopedia of Catholicism. He still believes history—especially at points of difference—is one of the most powerful tools we have to understand our faith and bring it to bear in the world.

Educated in a variety of religious schools (Muslim and Catholic) right up until college, David is excited to join a new faith community at Saint Philip’s in the Hills. You can usually find him drowning in a book. Or 400. Please pray.

Hannah Hill

Hannah Hill is a twenty-two year old born and raised in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. She is a cradle Episcopalian, and recently graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in May with a double major in Children’s Ministry and Ministerial Missions.

She hopes to one day serve the church full-time, but until then she is ”blessed to be able to serve in the city of Tucson!” In her free time. Hannah enjoys playing tennis, making music with her ukulele, and cooking for her loved one. She is excited to spend a year living and serving in Tucson and can’t wait to see what God has in store for her.

Marcus Maltby

Marcus Maltby is 26 and from Hamburg, New York—a suburb of Buffalo. He received his Bachelor’s degree in religious studies and theology from Canisius College. He is a on the Vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral and leads a book club for the cathedral.

Marcus has a passion for serving others and an appreciation for all life. He has a strong calling toward leadership and helping others who are in need. He is currently in the process of discernment for the priesthood within the Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania Diocese and his commitment to God and the Episcopal Church is his life’s focus.

He was awarded a first-degree black belt in Fudozen Shorinji Kempo Karate by Southtowns Kempo. Marcus is excited to be a participant in the upcoming Beloved in the Desert community.

Jeremy Wickboldt

Jeremy Wickboldt is twenty-two years old and a California native from the Bay Area—Walnut Creek to be exact. He recently graduated from the University of Portland with a Bachelor's of Business in marketing. An avid golf nut and amateur magician, he is excited to join the Beloved in the Desert community.

Jeremy was baptized Catholic and bounced around from church to church for the first few years of his life. Sometime around his sophomore year of high school, he fell in love with the Episcopal Church. He found his home with Church of the Resurrection in Pleasant Hill, California. It was at Resurrection that Jeremy was confirmed and truly became an Episcopalian. He is excited for this upcoming year with Beloved in the Desert as he continues in his growth and service as an Episcopalian.
