Naco Christmas

Volunteers from Saint Philips will collaborate again this Christmas with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Glendale.

On Saturday, December 17, parishioners Nancy Atherton, Jane and Jim Prescott-Smith, Don and Eileen Veitch, and Mtr Mary Trainor will join Fr Martir Vasquez, Vicar of St Andrew's, and other St. Andrew’s volunteers to provide a Christmas celebration for families in Naco, Sonora.

Volunteers will purchase clothing and toys and take them, unwrapped, to the families. Saint Philip’s has a list of 10 families with 39 children. Some gifts have already been donated but more gifts (toys and/or clothes) are needed for the children.

Dcn Leah has a list of children’s names, ages, and sizes. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please email her at lsandwellweiss@gmail.com.

Donations can be dropped off in the La Paz room between 10:15am-11:15am this Sunday, December 11. If you would like to drop off donations between December 12-15, please leave them in the office marked as “Naco donation.”

Financial contributions are also welcome. You can write a check made payable to Saint Philip’s with “Naco” written in the memo line and drop it in the collection plate or mail it to the office.

Volunteers will leave Tucson at 6:00am on Saturday, December 17. A carpool will leave the Hermitage Cat Shelter at 5278 E 21st Street. The group will drive to Bisbee, enjoy a breakfast there, and then cross to Naco with all the gifts collected between now and then. The volunteers will leave Naco at 2:00pm.

If you are interested in traveling to Naco, please email Deacon Leah at lsandwellweiss@gmail.com.
