Compassion in action

Saint Philip’s has 14 parishioners who were commissioned in August as trained Stephen Ministers. They meet with individuals confidentially one-on-one to support them through life crises, such as the death of a spouse or child, grave illness, loss of a job, or other such challenges.

Interest in this ministry continues to grow, so a second training class will begin early in 2024. The training takes about three months, and will employ the excellent curriculum that Stephen Ministry has used with over 500,000 lay ministers—from more than 100 denominations—since 1975.

Look for a table on campus this Sunday to learn more or to sign up for the training. Saint Philip’s Stephen Minister leaders are parishioners Dcn Anne Strong, Bill Symonds, and Margaret Voge. Any of them will be happy to answer questions.
