Healing service resumes

Saint Philip’s Healing Eucharist will return soon to its former Tuesday schedule, but in a new time slot.

The healing service will be offered at 12:15pm Tuesdays in the Chapel of the Nativity. It is part of the midweek Eucharist lineup at 12:15 Monday through Thursday, starting September 20.

This will be a “new” debut for the healing service at which anointing and personal prayer are an integral part of the liturgical context. Inactive since the beginning of COVID, the service will be open to all people, regardless of whether there is a pressing prayer need at the time of attendance. Clergy at each service are available to anoint and pray with any in attendance who desire.

Mtr Jean Rogers, who has a long history with this service, is stepping back from active participation this year, having moved farther away. Deacon Ruth Hooper, who has served alongside Mtr Jean at these services, expects to continue.

Priests who will preside and celebrate in the near term are Fr Peter Helman, Mtr Mary Trainor, and Canon Joanna Satorius, an affiliate priest who retired here from Los Angeles during the pandemic. These three will rotate, though in time it is expected that Canon Joanna will become the primary presider-celebrant.

The service will also be live-streamed via Facebook. It also will appear on the parish website as liturgies that go live via Facebook automatically post to www.stphilipstucson.org/livestream.
