Bible Study resumes

At 10:00am on Tuesday, September 21, we will offer a new Bible study group facilitated by Deacon Susan Erickson.  We'll start at the beginning with the Book of Genesis. The Old Testament often makes for challenging reading, but it's fundamental to our understanding of our Christian faith.

In the first session we'll talk about some of the challenges and misperceptions we face in reading the Hebrew Scriptures. To aid the discussion we'll look at Brent Strawn's short book "Lies My Preacher Told Me:  An Honest Look at the Old Testament" (Westminster John Knox Press, 2021).  We'll also discuss Genesis, Ch. 1.  In the coming weeks, Deacon Susan's hope is to continue on through the Pentateuch—and maybe beyond!

Weekly sessions will continue throughout the fall every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with sessions on September 21, September 28, and October 5 via Zoom only.

On October 12, we'll move to a hybrid format in which you will have the option of continuing to attend on Zoom or meeting in-person on the campus in Room 10, subject to any new protocols related to COVID precautions.

All are welcome! For more information, please contact Deacon Susan (susanerickson27@gmail.com). To register, please follow the button below. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with more information on how to join the meetings.

Copies of "Lies My Preacher Told Me" are available for purchase at the church. Please contact Fr. Peter Helman, Parochial Vicar (peter.helman@stphilipstucson.org).  The book is also available here on Kindle.
