Grief support group

Because we’re human, we hurt. Because we’re human, we have tears to cry. Because we’re human, our hearts are broken. Because we’re human, we understand that loss is a universal language. Everybody grieves.

—The Rev’d Jacqui Lewis

Grief is about a broken heart. It is a journey, a natural response to loss. The pandemic has created additional challenges such as isolation and loneliness. There are no right or wrong ways to grieve; there are well-worn paths through sorrow and pain towards healing and wholeness.

During the summer months, the grief support group will expand and be open to all, whatever your loss. The group meets 10:30am-12:00pm on Tuesdays from May 3-August 2 in the parish nurse’s office near the fish pond. Participate weekly or drop in occasionally—do what serves you best according to your needs.

The group begins with a prayer and a review of the Grief Recovery Covenant. A check-in follows to establish how each person is feeling. This is not mandatory; each person shares only what they are comfortable sharing. The meeting closes with another prayer or meditation.
