Afghan assistance update

Thanks to everyone who responded to Fr Robert’s request to find out who would be interested and able to assist Afghan refugees who will arrive in Tucson over the next few months. Almost 100 of you responded with offers of help, ranging from housing to childcare to tutoring to donations to pay for rent and other expenses. We deeply appreciate your concern and tangible support for our Afghan allies.

We have been in touch with Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW), the agency which works with Episcopal Migration Ministries to resettle refugees in Tucson. Nadine Hanson, the LSS-SW Community Engagement Coordinator, will be at St Philips to give a presentation at 9:00am this Sunday, September 26. Nadine will provide basic information about the refugee resettlement program, volunteer possibilities, and how to co-sponsor a family, as well as answer your questions.
